The Town of Gorham is currently accepting applications from candidates for the seasonal (April – October) full-time position of Sports Field Maintenance Laborer in the Public Works Department. The Sports Field Maintenance Laborer is responsible for assisting with the spring/summer/fall maintenance of Town-owned athletic fields, parks, trails, cemeteries and other municipal facilities. Primary focus is mowing and trimming of athletic fields and common areas, as well as monitoring irrigation systems, supporting over-seeding and fertilizing efforts and performing other activities related to the upkeep of outdoor facilities. This position works primarily outdoors and involves long hours of heavy physical activity in all kinds of weather conditions. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Road Foreman and requires the ability to complete work independently with little direct oversight. The pay range for this position is $12 to 15 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of a High School diploma required. A minimum of one year experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, general maintenance, or a related field required. Valid Class C or higher Driver’s License required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
