The Town of Gorham is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant to the Assessor in the Assessing Department. This position provides support to the Assessor and has considerable contact with department employees, the public, and outside agencies. Job responsibilities include processing tax related documents, assisting with research, maintaining accurate computerized tax records, and assisting with the administration of personal property valuation and the viewing of property in the
field. This position requires the ability to maintain detailed and accurate tax records and to conduct independent field work to evaluate property sites and record tax value. High School diploma or equivalent plus two or more years of experience in a progressively responsible general office position or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
A condition of employment is that the person in this position must have or work towards and acquire
Maine Assessor Certification within three years from date of employment.
