The Gorham Police Department would like to announce the kickoff of their newly established "Citizen Police Academy".

Purpose:

The purpose of the Academy is to expose citizen’s to the functions of the Criminal Justice System as well as introducing and maintaining a common knowledge of the Gorham Police Department as a whole.  

The program will also include self-victimization awareness and hands on demonstrations.

Mission Statement:

"Promoting a positive and proactive relationship between our community and law enforcement".​

Academy Classes:

Classes will consist one evening a week for ten (10) consecutive weeks of training held at the Gorham Police Department.

The sessions will be approximately two hours long.

The Academy is FREE of cost and enrollment is limited.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. 18 years of age or older;
  2. Reside or employed in the Town of Gorham;
  3. No prior felony arrests (or misdemeanor arrests in the past five years);
  4. Must agree to a basic background check;
  5. Complete the application by the deadline.
