What should I do if I have been involved in a traffic accident?

If you are involved in an accident, you should immediately report it to the police by calling 9-1-1 and remaining at the accident scene until the police arrive.

If the police have not been called to the scene, you and the other driver must come to the police department (270 Main Street) to report the accident.

Each driver should bring his/her driver’s license, registration, insurance card and the car he/she was operating at that time of the accident (if operable) to allow the officer taking the report to see the accident damage.

Without the above information, the police department can not take a report.  If you come to the police department to report an accident, you should expect to wait until an officer can be called in from the street to speak with you.
