What is the Compliance Review Process?

- Compliance Review is a branch of the Public Works Department that ensures approved construction projects meet all applicable Town requirements. These enforced requirements range from Gorham’s Land Use & Development Code to conditions placed on projects by the Gorham Planning Board. Gorham’s Compliance Coordinator is responsible for the undertaking of this process and completing each Compliance Review.

A Compliance Review is required for the following applications:

        Building Permits
                - All Commercial Projects with a Town Approved Site Plan
                - First & Last Buildings in a Residential Subdivision

        Occupancy Permits
                - All Commercial Projects with a Town Approved Site Plan
                - First & Last Buildings in a Residential Subdivision

** A Compliance Review may also be required at the discretion of the Code, Planning, or Public Works Directors. Please inquire with the Code Department at the time of your permit request as to the applicability of your project for a Compliance Review.

**Quasi public site improvements that are incomplete when a Certificate of Occupancy is requested will require the applicant to establish a performance guarantee with the Town. For more information please contact the Compliance Coordinator.

**All permits are released from the Code Enforcement Office.
