OFFICE HOURS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
The Welfare Director administers the state General Assistance Program which provides help to eligible people who need financial assistance for basic needs, such as rent, food, heating fuel, medications, non-elective medical care and other items that are considered essential. In order to receive assistance, applicants must follow program rules and meet eligibility guidelines.
HOW TO APPLY
You must apply in person and complete an application each time you request assistance. After you sumbit your completed application, an appointment will be scheduled to meet and review your request. When you apply, you will be asked to give the administrator information necessary to determine your eligibility. You will be asked for your household income, expenses, and the number of people in your household. You will also be asked to show the administrator proof of your income and expenses including food, rent, heating fuel, electricity, water/sewer, medical expenses and so on. Without complete information about your income and expenses, the administrator can't determine if you are eligible. It is your responsibility to show that you are eligible. It is the administrator's job to verify the information you supply. You should be
aware that if you receive assistance, you are required to repay the municipality when you become financially able to do so.
