How do I register to vote?
If you would like to register to vote in Gorham, please come into the Clerk’s office and fill out a voter registration card.  It is important that you show identification and proof of your Gorham street address.  Registration can take place anytime during our office hours.  You may also register to vote on Election Day by showing identification and proof of your Gorham address.
Examples of proper identification to show proof of Gorham address are a driver's license, state identification card, or a U. S. passport.  If your Gorham street address is not listed on your identification document then you can show a utility bill in your name showing the Gorham residence address or show mail that has been delivered to you at your Gorham address to prove your residence.  This can be completed and mailed to Attn: Registrar of Voters, Town of Gorham, 75 South St. Suite 1, Gorham, ME  04038.  Please remember to include a copy of your identification and proof of residence with your application.  Please note that voter registration applications sent by mail must be received in our office at least 16 days prior to any election or can not be accepted.  Post marked dates can not be accepted.  Voter registration must be done in person beginning fifteen days prior to any election.  If you are a student at USM in Gorham, and you are a legal resident of another town or city you should register to vote and vote by absentee ballot in your home town or city.  If you are a student at USM and a legal resident of Gorham and want to register to vote here, you must have identification and proof of your Gorham residence.  This could be a Maine driver’s license showing your residence address - not a post office box, a letter from the office of admissions, or mail that you have received at your Gorham address.  The days before any election can be busy in our office, so we recommend you try to register to vote well before Election Day.  If you move within Gorham or have a name change, let us know so we can keep our voter list up to date.  If you have a different address, your ward and therefore your voting place may change.  If you have any questions about your voter status don’t hesitate to give us a call.   QUALIFIED PARTIES IN GORHAM:  Democrat, Republican, Green Independent

If you can not come into our office to register to vote, click here to download an application.
